How To Identify Your Skin Undertone

Step one will be figuring out your skin undertone. If you already know yours, then skip ahead.

There are three primary skin tones: cool, warm and neutral.

Cool Undertone:

If your skin has a pink, red, or blue hue, you have cool undertones
People with cool undertones tend to burn easily in the sun.
Your veins might appear blue or purple.

Warm Undertone:

If your skin has a yellow, peachy, or golden undertones, you fall into this category.
Warm-toned individuals tan easily
Veins often appear green.

Neutral Undertones:

If you have a mix of both cool and warm undertones, you’re likely neutral.
You have a mix of blue and green veins

Note: Don’t confuse this with your skintone which are classified as fair, light, medium, and dark!

Choosing Metals

Cool:

White gold, platinum, and rose gold look good on cool-toned skin. These metals bring out the natural pinky blush in your complexion.

Warm:

Yellow gold and rose gold will bring out the warm sun-kissed glow in your skin, giving you a radiant look.

Neutral:

If you have neutral undertones, lucky you! You can pull off both cool and warm metals, so feel free to mix and match.

Choosing Gemstones

Just like metals, gemstones can enhance your natural complexion:

Cool Tones:

Bright-colored gemstones look best on you! Go for blue, green, and purple stones such as sapphires, emeralds, and amethysts. Cool-toned gems create a contrast against your skin. Try experimenting with garnets or topaz too!

Warm Tones:

Gemstones that have an earthy or natural colour will pop against your skin. Red, orange, and yellow gemstones such as rubies, citrine, and topaz enhance the warmth of your skin tone. If you want more colour try a turquoise or peridot which will suit your skin too!

Neutral Tones:

With neutral undertones, you can wear just about any gemstone colour. But we recommend experimenting with vibrant hues like pink tourmaline or turquoise for a pop of colour.

Seasonal Colour Palettes & Jewellery

Seasonal colour analysis groups people into four categories—winter, spring, summer, and autumn—each of which has different subcategories. This colour analysis is a bit more tricky in determining what you are, but it’s worth finding out.

Winter Palettes:

Winter complexions look best in high-contrast jewellery. Cool-toned silver, white gold, and platinum are ideal, as are gemstones like diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires.

Spring Palettes:

You often shine in bright, warm-toned jewellery. Yellow gold, coral, and peridot complement the fresh vibrancy of their colouring.

Summer Palettes:

Summers tend to have softer, muted tones. White gold and silver look beautiful, along with pastel gemstones like pearls, rose quartz, and aquamarine.

Autumn Palettes:

Autumns look great in earthy tones like yellow gold, copper, and bronze. Rich gemstones like garnet, citrine, and topaz bring out the warmth of an autumn palette.
