It’s that time of the year again, fashion’s biggest night out, and this year we are graced with the most insane jewellery game we’ve seen in years. This year’s Met Gala theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with a strong focus on tailored suiting, and we are here to break down some of our favourite fine jewellery pieces worn by the attendees.
Lewis Hamilton
Starting off strong, we have co-chair Sir Lewis Hamilton looking dapper in a custom Ivory Wales Bonner suit, complemented by a matching beret. With a relatively blank canvas to work with he played with the colours and big carat gemstones to incorporate into his look. His ensemble was elevated by two gold brooches, diamond earrings, chunky gemstone rings and some fine cufflinks. Let’s start with the rings, he chose Garnet and Diamonds in white and amber to be the centre stones of his three statement rings, two of them with over 10 carats being his pinky rings. We adore the Art Deco style cufflinks and brooches with diamonds and pearls; not only do they transform the look of a suit, but the symbols behind the designs are a great representation of Lewis’ values and personality as well.
Isha Ambani
The Ambanis did it again, showing up in jaw-dropping carats from their personal collections. Amongst all the museum-level jewellery she had on, the one that caught our eye was definitely the necklace she wore that resembles the infamous Toussaint necklace from her mother’s personal collection. The Toussaint was commissioned in 1931, designed by Cartier and has over 500 carats. Though the original was believed to be lost or dismantled, Ambani’s piece echoed its grandeur, sparking speculation about its authenticity and offering a breathtaking homage to a legendary jewel.
ASAP Rocky
The centre piece of Asap Rocky’s outfit was definitely the necklace featuring a 12.29 carat ruby. The necklace is from the Bvlgari High Jewellery collection but has yet to make its debut.
Aside from the other stunning Bulgari pieces that completed his look, his outfit featured a customised 90-carat diamond-covered umbrella that is met gala worthy.
Clara wu tsai
Clara Wu Tsai made a statement with an exquisite emerald set, showcasing gemstones that exuded opulence. Emeralds with carats of this calibre don’t really need any fancy designs to make a statement. The rich hues and sleek design underscored her status as a connoisseur of fine jewellery, adding a regal touch to the evening’s festivities.
Coco Jones
Coco Jones aced her first Met Gala look in a stunning floral and pearl embroidered two-piece ensemble with a show-stopping statement necklace. The diamond and sapphire necklace features two drop components in the centre which goes perfectly with the neckline of the jacket.
Overall, we think this may be the best year for jewellery yet. We can’t wait to see how these pieces translate into new trends for 2025. Did any of the pieces catch your eye specifically?
